How does OSA Kit work?

Well, OSA Kit is an ActiveX control which helps you pass to it your game URL and forget all about it. OSA Kit will do all the dirty work for you. The ActiveX control will run the game inside the users browser just as if it were originally developed using Java or Flash!

ActiveX?! Then how come it will work with non IE browsers e.g. Firefox, Opera...etc?

What steps are involved to make it work?

1- Make your game as single file, EXE has the game media packed inside it (OSA Kit comes with a free tool to do that for you).

2- Upload the packed file a long with the License file to your server.

3- Copy and paste the HTML code required for OSA Kit to run the game.

Am I obligated to Pack all media into the EXE?

Actually, No. You can make the OSA Kit download the EXE alone without any media attached and then download your media with your own code. You can if you desire define the path as a URL in your code instead of a local path but bear keep in mind that if the user has a firewall he will be notified that your game wants to access the internet. This may cause alarm so it's not a way I recommend, best bet is to pack all your media into the game EXE.

What are the system requirements for OSA Kit?

1- OSA Kit, a small file hosted at your server (only 39KB! it is very lightweight!)

2- Internet Explorer or compatible browser (Firefox, Opera, Mozilla... are now supported through installing OSAKit Pro Player 165Kb).

3- VB runtime Libraries on the users machine (almost 1MB)

What about the VB runtime libraries?

1- VB runtimes are already preinstalled on anything newer than Windows 98 first edition.

2- In most cases VB runtimes will be already installed on the user machine . A large amount of VB software is already being used, so chances are very high that the user already have it!

3- More than 50% of internet users are on broadband and others are on high speed connections (dialup users are a dwindling band!) So it's not going to make much difference for the user to download 1 meg, even this is still easy even for a 56ker!

Can it work on a complex html webpage or does it have to be a blank one?
